The alarm didn’t go off. You’ve forgotten a meeting. The clocks have gone forward and nobody told you. Whatever the reason, you don’t have time to think about it now. Here’s your emergency exit plan within five, 15 and 30 minute timeframes. Get going. What are you waiting for?SHOP THE TIME-SAVING BEAUTY EDIT
1 MIN: SHOWER
You can’t leave the house without a body and face wash, so don’t even ask. Use an ultra-moisturising wash so you don’t have to worry about applying cream afterwards. Brush your teeth in the shower and give your lips a quick exfoliate with the towel. Apply lip balm (see below).
1 MIN: DRY SHAMPOO
As you dry off, turn your hair upside down and spritz your roots with dry shampoo. Flick hair back. Slightly backcomb front and pull back into a ponytail if your hair is long. Slick back, or use an on-trend Alice band if your hair is short.
1 MIN: ALL-IN-ONE MOISTURISER + BASE
Use a product that is a primer, moisturiser and foundation in one. Just rub onto your skin with your fingers, focusing on areas on the chin, around the nose and centre of the forehead then blend outwards.
1 MIN: DEODORANT + PERFUME
Double up your fragrance with a deodorant and perfume in one. You may not be feeling on top form but you can smell like you are. Dress.
1 MIN: RED LIPSTICK
…is your ticket to instant glamour. Go for a chunky pencil, which is easy to apply and consistent in coverage. You already prepped your lips with balm when you got out of the shower so just pencil in the colour, smudge with fingers, and press lips together. Fill in the gaps. Grab some kitchen paper so you can reapply on the run. Now, go!
MAKE THE MINUTES COUNT
5 MINS: FRINGE WASH WITH SHAMPOO
Your hair might not be blow dry perfect but you can give the illusion of it by washing the front. Dry and style how you’d normally do it.
3 MINS: PRIMER + FOUNDATION
You need makeup that is going to survive the day, so go for a foundation that is easy to apply but lasts the distance. Most long-lasting foundations have a matte, mask-like effect so apply sparingly and only on areas that need it most if it feels heavy. Start at the nose and blend out to other areas.
3 MINS: CONCEALER AND SPOTLIGHTING
Use a light-reflecting concealer and dot under your eyes, eyebrows, down your nose, on your Cupid’s Bow and chin. Blend in. (Prepare for your next dash out of the door by watching our Spotlighting with Concealer video.)
2 MINS: EYESHADOW
Keep the look simple but chic with a sweep of slightly shimmery bronze across the socket.
1 MIN: LINER + MASCARA
Use a smudgy pencil to help define your eyes and adjust with your fingers or a brush to blend into your shadow. Finish with lashings of your favourite mascara.
1 MIN: BROWS
Untidy brows are a giveaway you’ve got ready in a rush. Pencil in colour with short strokes and use a brush to comb into place.
TIME WELL SPENT
10 MINS: SHOWER + HAIR
Thirty minutes is a decent amount of time to get ready so you can upgrade your everyday look. Skip the hair wash and freshen with dry shampoo.
5 MINS: PRIMER + FOUNDATION
After cleansing and moisturising your face, apply some silky primer. Leave it to settle for a few minutes while you brush your teeth. Use a lightweight, luminous foundation around the nose, chin, cheeks, and buff any excess under your jaw.
2 MINS: CREAM BLUSH
Apply a cream blush to the apples of your cheeks. With the foundation that’s left on your brush, blot the blush and then repeat. Build up thin layers of blush that are diffused by the foundation to give a subtle glow.
10 MINS: EYESHADOW
You don’t have time to try out our new colour pop eye, but you can have a go at mastering the mysteries of a luxury eyeshadow palette. Use the lightest shade around your inner eye; the darker colour at your outer eye. Then, blend the two together using a colour that sits in between the two tones.COLOUR POP EYE
2 MINS: EYELASHES
The clock’s counting so curl your lashes and apply mascara.
1 MIN: POWDER
Set your makeup with a translucent powder.
