PARTY SKIN PREP
Show off your skin this season
That party is tonight and you’ve got your winning off-the-shoulder dress sorted. The only catch: pale, dry, scaly skin. In winter, when you’re rugged up in knits and denim, body pampering takes a back seat but now it’s time to uncover your glow. A few extra minutes is all it takes to get your skin prepped again. Follow these expert party beauty tips.
"The fastest way to make
SKIN GLOW is with a scrub"
Cell turnover slows in winter, so skin gets rougher and feels drier than normal. Step into a warm shower and massage a scrub with fruit enzymes and finely-milled particles (we love Origins Never a Dull Moment Face Polisher) into your face. The neck and chest area is worth attention but both require a lighter touch, so extend your face formula below the chin. Next, massage a body scrub with sea salt and nourishing oils (we love Elemis Lime and Ginger Salt Glow) into your arms, shoulders and legs with light, circular motions and pat dry.
"The sexiest skin is RADIANT and softly scented"
If self tan isn’t your thing, a luxurious, lightly-scented body oil (like Elemis Frangiapni Monoi Oil) nourishes skin and leaves you with a gorgeous glow. Don’t be worried about it feeling too heavy – these formulas are designed to sink into skin fast. The trick is to get it on within moments of towelling off. That way you trap moisture in the skin so it feels softer for longer. However, if you plan on adding a little colour (see next step), swap the oil for your regular body cream.
CONCEAL & REVEAL
"Here’s a red carpet trick: just like you CONCEAL imperfections on your face, you can also TOUCH UP any visible bumps, birthmarks or bruises on your legs and arms"
To even out skin tone, MAC Studio Face and Body Foundation is a go-to for the makeup artists of red carpet-ready celebrities. It covers all marks, sinks in quickly and won’t rub off. For dark bruises, dab on a thick, waterproof concealer or foundation (we like MAC Pro Longwear Nourishing Waterproof Foundation) with a brush and blend well.
"Now it's time to SHINE"
Just as you add luminosity to your face, a light-reflecting bronzer (like Charlotte Tilbury Bronze and Glow) will make your décolletage catch the light too. Dust on with a large fluffy brush in large swirling motions. On legs and arms, a tinted body oil like NARS Monoi Body Glow or all-over bronzer like Benefit Hoola Zero Tanlines Body Bronzer will give your limbs that just-back-from-the-tropics colour.
