MATTE REVOLUTION LIPSTICK IN RED CARPET RED
I’m a big fan of Charlotte Tilbury and her make-up collection – it seems like everything she creates becomes a must-have on every beauty girl’s list. Red Carpet Red is one of the most popular shades in her lipstick line up, so it’s a natural choice when going for a vampy statement lip. As expected, the formula is easy to apply, and with a tapered tip, it’s easy to follow your natural lip line and enhance the shape of your lips, applying straight from the bullet. The colour is bright and vibrant, and really brightens up my skin tone. The formula lasted well, with only a few touch ups to keep colour fresh. Red is always my go-to to refresh my make-up in an quick sweep.
K.I.S.S.I.N.G LIPSTICK IN NUDE KATE
Inspired by Britain’s favourite supermodel (and one of Charlotte’s closest friends), ‘Nude Kate’ has a lot to live up to! A smooth, velvety textured nude with rich neutral tones – it’s the type of shade you’d expect Kate herself to rock on a Saturday night in Notting Hill. To get the full look, I combined my nude lip with a dark shadow, blending out for a soft smokey effect and lots of kohl liner to finish. The lipstick may look a little too ‘natural’ on its own, but teamed with dark eyes it compliments Kate’s signature look well. The formula is really moisturising, and didn’t dry out my lips as I’ve had with other lipsticks. I’ll definitely keep in my beauty bag.
The Verdict: There’s nothing like a classic red to lift your beauty look in one step.

MINERALIZE RICH LIPSTICK IN SO GOOD
I usually go for matte textures when choosing a lipstick, as they tend to last-longer, but MAC’s Mineralize lipstick had the highly pigmented colour of a lipstick, but the shine of a creamy gloss. The colour of this hot red was really impactful, yet felt lightweight and comfortable to wear, with a slight sheen to it. I lined with lip liner to stop the colour from bleeding, which gave a long-lasting finish. I love a red lippy to take my look from day to night, so I’d definitely wear this again, especially with the festive season fast-approaching!
LIPTENSITY IN DOE
This formula was so long-wearing – I only had to touch up once all day. The nude shade worked really well with my skin tone, and was extremely pigmented; I only needed one coat to get the bold colour I typically like to achieve. The formula almost feels like a gel, and melts onto lips, so there’s no drying as with other lipsticks, and it feels really hydrating to wear. I’ll definitely try in other colours – perhaps a dark plum for the winter season.
The Verdict: Bold lips will always be my favourite beauty look. I choose red!
LIP COLOUR IN SMOKE RED
My beauty look is all about eyes. So when it comes to lips, I like to keep things strictly nude. To prepare for my bold new foray into colour, I used a back liner around my eyes, blending out for a light smokey effect, less dramatic than my usual look. I kept my base light and natural, so the full effect of my colour pop pout could take centre stage. After lining and reshaping my lips, I applied the lipstick straight from the bullet. The colour is very bold and deep, which works well with my dark hair and pale skin. Initially I wasn’t convinced, but I decided to stick with it – and within a few days (and after a few compliments) I was loving the new look. A little pop of colour really is a great pick-me-up after all.
LIP COLOUR IN REVOLVE AROUND ME
My go-to colour – a creamy nude lip is my ultimate shade. Where I had to concentrate on applying my new red lipstick, with lots of lining, shaping, filling-in and general upkeep, with my favourite nude I can apply with my eyes closed. The colour of this neutral is a great match for my skin, with enough of a pink-to-nude ratio that when teamed with my pale skin, I don’t look ill (…which has been known to happen when erring on the side of just-the-wrong-shade). Back into my smokey eyed, nude lipped look, I’m back into my comfort zone. Maybe I’ll keep bold lips for when I’m feeling a bit brave.
The Verdict: There's nothing better than a nude lip and smokey eyed combo.

VELVET MATTE LIP PENCIL IN CRUELLA
By reputation, this fail-safe classic lip range by NARS is loved by all the bloggers and Instagrammers I follow, so I was looking forward to getting to try the collection too. This is my first Velvet Matte Lip Pencil, but it won't be my last. I loved the beautiful texture, easy-to-apply pencil and long-lasting formula. Matched with a great shade of vibrant, coral red, I was really impressed overall. The colour will look great in the summer with a tan, but will also work wonders as an exciting switch-up from the traditional red and golds of Christmas season. I’m putting this on my list!
AUDACIOUS LIPSTICK IN ANITA
With NARS, everything is in the detail, and I love the extra effort they go to for that little bit of luxury in your beauty bag – the magnets that click together your coordinating lipsticks from the range is a great touch. The fact that each shade is named after an iconic women makes it all the greater. The Audacious lipsticks are known for their creamy formula, and I found this glided on effortlessly for super easy and comfortable application. The soft-mauve nude is very nineties and now for the trends of the moment, and great for a no-fuss make-up look. I want them all!
The Verdict: Although I love a nineties nude, for me, it’s all about red.
