Dassie Artisan terrazzo ceramics

Felt your heart sink when you’ve spotted something you’ve bought in someone else’s home? It might not be quite the same as turning up to a wedding in the same dress, but we won’t pretend we don’t get a thrill from finding a hot new interiors brand first.

“Any imperfections should be celebrated as a testament to the hard work of the talented artisans.”

Cue this collection of handcrafted homeware. Dassie Artisan takes pride in the artisanal appeal of each piece, with a focus on features like hand-stitching, not-quite-matching sets and relaxed, organic shapes. Plus, all this season’s interiors trends are here – terrazzo, woven bamboo, velvet textiles – so there’s some serious style points up for grabs.

Behind the brand

Behind the brand

Kudos goes to entrepreneurial Kent-based couple David and Roxi Zeeman, who founded the brand in 2012 on some seriously solid values: honesty, integrity and - of course - great design. The duo work directly with artisans in developing countries to create unique pieces inspired by their global travels.

“We seek to empower our artisans to use their traditional skills and techniques to reach a broader market.”

Aware of the increasing demand to walk the walk on ‘conscious consumerism’, the pair developed their own key of symbols to guide devotees of ethical design. You’ll spot them on every product, from Fairtrade and organic to mouth blown glass and items marked as made by women. Beautiful, unique products born from great principles? Dassie Artisan is doing it right.
