A CELEBRATION OF SPARKLE
Sometimes, only sparkle will do. This trend recreates the kind of table we like to think the royals sit around for their Christmas dinner - that means plenty of gold, opulent detail and pops of palace-approved purple. Call it a tribute to the roaring ‘20s or just an opportunity to indulge your showy side, it’s a true celebration of everything we love about the season. After all, if you can’t get the gold cutlery out at Christmas, when can you?
“The Midas touch is a shortcut to a very merry Christmas table”
Melanie Lissack’s styling has totally embraced the ‘more is more’ mantra, but she’s added clever delicate touches, like the lisianthus stems at each setting. There’s plenty of print, but the deco theme of the different patterns means they layer surprisingly well. And whilst the gold could feel flash, don’t feel you have to banish the lot to the attic once Christmas is over. Individual pieces – like the gold-rimmed glassware – can be dressed down for a dinner party by ditching the tablecloth.
