Time to plant your spring flowering bulbs. Tulip 'Banja Luka' is a real showstopper that demands attention. With its fiery, golden yellow petals boldly brushed with scarlet red, this tulip lights up borders like a sunset on a spring evening.
If you want garden colour that stops people in their tracks, this is it. These blooms are big, really big, and are held on strong, sturdy stems that shrug off wind and rain, so they keep standing tall for weeks.
Plus, it fits right into mixed borders, formal bedding schemes, or containers on patios and balconies. It blends beautifully with deeper shades like Tulip 'Queen of Night' or violet-blue Hyacinths for a striking contrast. Or, soften the look by planting with white daffodils or pastel tulips for a more romantic display.
This variety typically reaches around 50cm tall, flowering in that period from mid to late spring when the garden is in a lovely seasonal swing.
It’s also one of the more reliable perennial tulips, often reappearing for several years if planted in the right spot. Choose a sunny, free-draining area and plant your bulbs around 15cm deep in autumn. Feed with a high-potassium fertiliser after flowering if you want to encourage repeat performance.
