An absolutely wonderful plant, ‘Sugar Rush’ is a dwarf wallflower that packs a real punch.
Not only does it produce spectacular spikes, densely filled with highly scented, colourful flowers, but it does it twice. In autumn and early winter, the first flush of flowers appears, their perfume drifting around your garden as late as November. Then, after a brief break more flowers are produced between March and May, sometimes into early summer too. The stunning display in a mixture of red, yellow, purple and cream will transform your whole garden and certainly makes a wonderful alternative to the more usual winter bedding, and bees and other pollinators will appreciate them for their nectar at a time of year when it is scarce.
‘Sugar Rush’ is extremely hardy, even in the harshest of winters and will continue to look superb in borders and planters when most garden plants are dormant. It’s easy to care for too, needing only regular deadheading and cutting back after the autumn flowers have finished to stop them getting leggy before the spring flowers arrive.
