Inside Melanie Lissack’s spring reset, where small changes make the biggest impact.
Spring never really announces itself all at once. It slips in slowly: a lighter morning here, a window left open there, until one day your home starts to feel just slightly out of step with the mood outside.
That in-between moment is where the reset begins.
For Melanie Lissack, it is less about a dramatic overhaul and more about tuning into the season through small, thoughtful shifts. A cushion swap here, a new scent there, fresh-cut florals placed just so. The kind of changes that build gradually, creating that unmistakable ‘spring feeling’ without ever forcing it.
From lighter bedding to layered tables and texture-led updates, her approach to a spring room reset is intuitive, expressive and quietly impactful, a reminder that sometimes the smallest details are the ones that transform a space entirely.

What does a “spring reset” mean to you, both in your home and your mindset?
I always try and embrace the current season via my home decor styling and mentally, spring is the most important for me! After months of dark and gloomy winter days and a brief period of the house feeling bare after the Christmas decorations have come down, I want to celebrate the start of spring and I actively set out to create that ‘spring feeling’ via a few small additions to my interior. These additions don’t have to be big changes ups - a cushion swap out or a new candle with a spring fragrance (such as jasmine or tomato vine) is perfect to refresh your home for spring!
Where do you always start when refreshing your space for spring?
Flowers and florals first! I’ll force bulbs in pots in that ‘end of winter’ period, then when spring starts I’ll fill my home with budget-friendly tulips and daffodils in small vases. Budding blossom and magnolia trees are everywhere at the start of spring and I love to cut the branches and display them in wide based, thin neck vases that can support them, such as this seahorse vase I picked up via FRASERS.
What trends are you loving right now for spring living rooms?
Embroidery! Embroidery is huge for 2026 and texture always adds depth to a room and gives it more interest. Embroidered floral cushions are a favourite for me right now.
What’s your approach to styling a spring table: minimal and chic or layered and expressive?
I think it’s down to personal taste the type of spring table that you want to embrace, but, for me, spring is the ultimate time to have fun with colour and pattern and I love to go all out with spring-themed colours such as yellows, pinks and lilacs. I’ll tie these colours in with busy patterns and layer the table with both bold florals and botanical prints. If you want to combine the two, use a busy, colourful tablecloth and then keep serveware neutral and muted (or, vice versa - use a plain cloth and then layer patterned serveware).
What small styling details elevate your bedroom without a full redesign?
A new bed cushion always works well! It’s a simple update that will give your whole bed a new look. Also try mixing up your bedside tables or dressing table: a new vase can make all the difference!
What’s the one change that instantly makes your home feel lighter and more “spring ready”?
