Christmas Day is a very different affair from one household to another, so dressing for the day will be too. For the magpies amongst us, we're all about celebrating classic festive finishes - if there’s ever a time to embrace sparkles, gold and velvet, then December 25th has got to be it. For others, the festive break means revelling in the never-getting-out-of-PJs mindset until the new year. No matter what your stance is on the dress code of the big day, we've collated Christmas outfit inspiration for whatever traditions you’ll be honouring come Christmas Day.
Going all out
Whether you're cooking the turkey yourself or going out to a restaurant with all the extended family, some traditions include getting dressed up for Christmas dinner. The perfect excuse to introduce some sequins and velvet to your sartorial portfolio, we say. To really get into the festive spirit we recommend this all black, beaded co-ordinating set from Ganni.
If the main aim of your Christmas Day is to just be together in front of the telly, making your way through of a box of Quality Street (and trying to steal the purple ones) then make sure you're doing it in ultimate comfort with some luxe loungewear. Look to faux-fur lined slippers, fluffy socks and robes for ultimate comfort, and pair with baby pink PJs.
Hitting the road
If your Christmas outings are a little more low-key, like venturing on an appetite-inducing walk or calling on loved ones with special gifts, then cosy layers and classic Christmassy finishes are a no-brainer. Layer up on knits with ribbed knit dresses and chunky-knit jumpers for ultimate cosy vibes, and keep things cool with a leather biker jacket and a pair of combat boots.
